I don't know anything about the technical aspects of aqua-landscaping and frankly I don't care. I just know what I like to look at, and Amano's are hands down my favorite aquariums to look at. I don't care if they don't meet other people's idea of what proper 'depth' or design should be. They're gorgeous to me because they look like what you'd imagine the bottom of a lake or the sea would be. I just love them. The hell with what anybody else has to say about them.

Amano house tank is much more mature, I remember that's the first layout of it wasn't so great comparing to the actual version. I agree that's depth isn't looking very strong, but it is hard to tell on video.

amano himself said that this tank was not meant to look big, its meant to be realistic and represent nature without any scaling.

2:06. Pause the video and see if this tank looks big to you. It does not. It looks very small. This is not a very good aquascape for the size of this tank. The 7 meter long tank is nothing to write home about either. The tank that Amano has in his house is by far the best of all the big ones he has done.

And Amano has the final word who wins the yearly ADA contest. Now look at the winner of the 2010 contest. Do you see the Black Beard Algae all over the tank? It would be good if people are more critical of what they see. Huge aquascapes are very hard to make. Here we have 2 examples of mediocrity. And the big old tank is an example of greatness.
